Rule Changes Coming?
A CLA bulletin on rule changes has been issued and posted on the Canadian Lacrosse site.
Some key proposed changes:
1. The 30 second clock runs at all times, even while shorthanded.
2. Fewer faceoffs. Possession is awarded to the non-offending team after a penalty has been called.

Knights Are Also Football All-Stars
Ryan Carisse and Mike Macdonald were named to the High School All-City West Football Team as linebackers.
Mike played for Sir Robert Borden who made it to the quarterfinals of the playoffs, while Ryan's team, St. Mark, made it to the finals before bowing out.

Brock U Wins Baggataway Cup
Brock Badgers defeated the Bishop's Gaiters 9-8 in triple overtime to win the Baggataway Cup, emblematic of Ontario University Field Lacrosse supremacy.
Ex-Knights participating in the Championship game were Stu McFarlane, a middie for Bishop's, and Dan Pilon, an Assistant Coach with Brock. Stu was also name to the 1st All-Star Team.

2003 Jr B Alignment Approved
Three new teams will be added for 2003; Windsor AKO Fratmen, Niagara Thunderhawks and London Blue Devils.
The Brantford Posse is sitting out the 2003 season.

Knights Make National Team Roster
Brad Conlon and Evan Sarazen have earned spots on the 2003 Under-19 Canadian Field Lacrosse team. Brad will be playing Goal while Evan will be on Defense. The U-19 world championships are schedule for June 26 - July 6, 2003 at Towson University in Maryland.

Black Sheep win National Silver
The Quebec (Ottawa) Black Sheep field lacrosse team took their perfect 3 and 0 record into the Victory Cup Championship game vs defending Champion Saskatchewan, but came up on the short end of a 14-10 score.

With the increase in popularity of field lacrosse, it's only natural that more and more Knights players are making the transition to the 'American' game.

2002 AGM News
At the Knights' Annual General Meeting on Thursday Sept. 26th, two new executives were elected to replace Mike Cox (General Manager) and Heather Hamilton (Secretary) who announced their retirement prior to the meeting.
Julie Parker is the new General Manager and Connie Harvey the new Secretary.
Andy Mutch and Jerry Thrasher were re-acclaimed for 2 more years as President and Vice President respectively while Jeff Sarazin is returning for his second year as Treasurer.
The coaching team of Eugene Zywicki (Head Coach) and Dan Leduc (Assistant Coach) will be returning for their 4th year behind the bench.
Congratulations to the new executive members Julie and Connie, and a big 'Thank You' to Mike and Heather for their contributions during the 2002 Season.
Knights Vying for National Team
Brad Conlon, Evan Sarazen and Raj Wasson attended the Ontario tryout camp held in Oshawa Sept. 6-8 for the 2003 Under-19 Canadian Field Lacrosse team. Callum Crawford of the Gloucester Griffins also attended.
Brad, Evan and Callum were selected to participate in the Final Selection Camp to be held in Oshawa Oct. 11-13.

Three Knights Make Jr. A Raiders
Three members of the Knights are playing for the Nepean Raiders of the Central Jr. 'A' Hockey League.
Mickey Gilchrist is back for his 3rd season, Brennan Sarazin is returning for his 2nd year, and Matt Cowie made the team in his rookie year.
Congrats to Mickey, Brennan and Matt!!!

Mickey Gilchrist Named East MVP
In his 3rd season with the Knights Mickey Gilchrist was named the Most Valuable Player for the OLA Jr 'B' East Division.
Mickey led the Knights in scoring with 42 goals and 44 assists for 86 points in 22 games, and finished 6th in the Jr 'B' scoring race.

Ex-Knight Garners Jr A Award
In his final year as a junior, ex-Knight Jeff Zywicki was voted the Gaylord Powless Memorial Award for his combination of sportsmanship and skill.
Jeff led the league in goals with 48 in 17 games, adding 23 assists while picking up only 10 minutes in penalties.
Jeff is returning to the University of Massachusetts in the fall for his Junior (3rd) year with the field lacrosse team. In the spring of 2002 he was named to the ECAC all-academic team. The all-academic team recognizes those student-athletes who have a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average and are significant contributors to their team's success.

Jr. A Draft
In the OLA Jr. A Draft of over-age midget players held Jan. 13 in Toronto, NMLA goalie Derek Crowell was selected by Mississauga in the 1st round, #5 overall, and forward Simon Bradford was selected by Mississauga in the 2nd round, #12 overall.
Jr. B Schedule
Milton is rejoining the league after a 2 year absence, there's a new entry in Markham, and Kahnawake is taking 1 year off.
The Divisional alignments are:
Far East: Akwesasne, Gloucester, Markham, Nepean, Onondaga
Mid East: Barrie, Green Gaels, Huntsville, Mimico, Oakville, Scarborough
Mid West: Elora, Guelph, Halton Hills, Milton, Orangeville, Owen Sound
Far West: Brantford, Sarnia, Six Nations, Spartan, Wallaceburg, Welland
The schedule will consist of 22 games with interlocking games vs the Mid East and Mid West teams.
Halton Hills has been selected to host the Founders Cup in 2002 pending approval by the CLA.
