Notice of the 2006 Nepean Knights Junior Lacrosse Club Annual General Meeting
The Nepean Knights will be holding their Annual General Meeting:
- Monday, October 23rd, 2006 @ 7:30pm
- Walter Baker Centre in the Foodcourt Boardroom.
Everyone with an interest in Junior B lacrosse is welcome.
At the AGM on Monday, we will be honoured to have former Knight, Jeff
Zywicki, present.
Following the AGM, there will be an opportunity for a "Question and
Answer" session with Jeff, where people can ask him about his
experiences with the 2006 Canadian World Championship Field Lacrosse
team, the San Jose Stealth of the National Lacrosse League and the
Denver Outlaws of the Major Lacrosse League as well as his Junior
career in Nepean and Orillia.
U 19 Field Lacrosse League Schedule Released
The league schedule for the Ottawa Knights U 19 field lacrosse team is now available. The games are on weekends and start in September. For more details please consult the following schedule. U 19 League Schedule
Ottawa Knights Field Lacrosse
It is soon becoming that time of year again when the box season finishes out and the field season begins. This year the Ottawa Nemesis U19 has changed its name to the Ottawa Knights, giving us a fresh face and our own identity. We will once again be part of the Ontario U19 Field Lacrosse League. In addition we are hoping to get interest for a U16 team also playing in the Ontario Field Lacrosse League. It marks the first year that the U16 has been moved to the fall season, there are currently 8 teams committed, we are hoping to enter a team.
Ottawa Knights Field Lacrosse Practice and Try-out Times For U16 and U19
The practice and try-out times for the U16 and U19 field lacrosse teams are now posted.
Year-End Banquet
The Nepean Knights will be holding their year-end banquet on July 17th. This evening out for the players, coaches, executive and volunteers will include a team dinner and awards and will be held at the Lone Star Lodge. The Lone Star Lodge is located at the Old Log Farm on Cedarview Rd. just south of Hunt Club Rd not at the main ranch on Hunt Club. All players need to contact Dean Joncas for meal selection. Also, all equipment still outstanding must be brought returned. Please arrive at 6:30 pm as dinner begins at 7 pm. We hope to see everyone there!
Former Knight Zywicki Wins World Field Lacrosse Championship with Team Canada
Former Knight Jeff Zywicki, along with his Team Canada teammates has won the World Field Lacrosse Championships. Jeff, who was the leading goal scorer for the Champions was also named to the All World Team, one of three attack to earn this honour. Congratulations to Jeff and the rest of team Canada.
Another Big Win
The Knights had another big win in their quest for a playoff spot this year. With every game counting the Knights did not disappoint last night as the beat the Gloucester Griffins 16-10. The next Knights game is a crucial one as they travel to play the Saints who are two points up on Nepean and who hold the last playoff spot. A win there would go a long way towards securing a playoff spot. Good luck guys!!
Home Game on June 30th -- Date Changed to June 29th
The Nepean Knights have changed the date of their final home game from 30th June to 29th June. The game will still be held at the Merivale Arena @ 8 PM.
The Knights had a successful road weekend, ending the trip with a split of their games. Nepean beat Milton on Saturday 9 to 6 but lost to a strong Halton Hills club on Sunday.
The next home game is on Wednesday vs Cornwall, Merivale Arena @ 8 PM. Come out and support these great athletes!
Ontario U19 Team Honours for Two Knights
The are Nepean Knights Junior B Lacrosse Club is happy to announce that two players from the team, Jordan Joncas and Davey Hallett, have been selected to play for the U19 Team Ontario. This field lacrosse team will play a three game match against the state team from Maryland on June 9,10 and 11 in Maryland. They are playing for the Brogden Cup, which is an annual event hosted alternately between Ontario and Maryland. The trophy was last won by Ontario and we hope to claim the cup on American soil this year.
Congratulations to both players on this achievement from the Knights and best of luck!
Knights Over the Celtics 15 to 5 and Drive for the Playoffs
Last night the Nepean Knights faced the Cornwall Celtics, this marking the third and last meeting of this year for the two clubs. This would also be the game to end the split in games for this year. In the last meeting Cornwall came out swinging and never gave up, taking a third period lead that they would not give up.
Knights Split the Weekend Series
The Nepean Knights are coming off of a weekend road trip that saw them split their games. On Saturday Nepean lost to the Green Gaels 12 to 5, but came back on Sunday to take Markham 8 to 7. We start next week with a game on Wednesday, May 24 at Akwesasne and we're at home in Nepean to take on the Gloucester Griffins, Friday, May 26 at 8:00 PM, Merivale Arena. This is the first regular season matchup between the two local Jr. B clubs and should be a great game to watch. Come join us!
Nepean 14 at Gloucester 3
The Nepean Knights took the 2nd installment of the battle for the Ferguson Cup against Gloucester by defeating the Griffins 14 to 3. The Knights now leave Ottawa for a weekend road trip June 10th and 11th to Milton and Halton Hills to take on these two team.

This game is in Gloucester on Tuesday and the Knights could use your support in this important division matchup. Disappointing Weekend for the Knights
The Nepean Knights found themselves looking back on this weekend and seeing two losses that could have been victories. On Saturday, Huntsville can to town and stole one from the Knights 10 - 6. The game on Sunday was also one the Knights would like to have back dropping this one to Oakville 10 - 5.

Knights Win the First Round in the Battle for the Ferguson Cup
The Nepean Knights were at home in Nepean to take on the Gloucester Griffins on Friday and won the first round of the battle for the Ferguson Cup with a 12-9 victory. The clubs play each other three times in June to settle this for the 2006 season. In other action this weekend, Cornwall surprised Nepean 9-7 on Sunday..
Come join us for our next home games which are Friday, June 2 at 8:00 PM vs Akwesasne and again on Saturday, June 3 at 8:00 PM vs Mimico.

New Affiliation with Kingston Minor Lacrosse
In addition to being affiliated with the Nepean Knights Minor Lacrosse Association, the Knights are pleased to announce that they have also affiliated with the Kingston Krossfire Minor Lacrosse Association. This will add another strong link in the Zone between Junior & minor lacrosse. Also in Zone 5, the Kemptville MLA is affiliated with Gloucester Jr. B team and the Brockville MLA is affiliated with Cornwall Jr. B.
Physiotherapist
The Nepean Knights are please to welcome Vicki Wong as the new Physiotherapist. Vicki takes over from Susie Renaud, who has volunteered with the Club in this role for many years. Thanks to Susie for all you've done for the Team, it is appreciated, and welcome aboard to Vicki!
U19 Nemesis Field Lacrosse Changes its Name
The Ottawa U19 Nemesis Field Lacrosse is changing its name and will affiliate with the Nepean Knights Jr B C lub. Th is affiliation will provide better organization for the U19 program and will also help to develop players for the Junior ranks. The new name of this program will be the Ottawa Knights Field Lacrosse .

Skills Camp 2006 A Great Success
Once again the Nepean Knights Jr. B Skills Camp for minor lacrosse players was a great success. We hope that all those young players and their parents who were out this past weekend enjoyed themselves and learned a great deal. Thanks again to Coach Dean Joncas and the players, who volunteered their time, for making this a memorable experience for everyone.
As happens at these events, there are a few items that get left behind. If you are missing something, please email Andy Mutch. He was able to gather most of the items that were left behind after the Camp had ended.
Nepean Knights Conditioning Sessions
The Nepean Knights conditioning sessions begin March 24, 2006 at the Sensplex Fieldhouse in Kanata.
Skills Camp 2006
The Nepean Knights are pleased to announce their upcoming Skills Camps for young lacrosse players. The Skills Camps are offered in two different sessions, with Saturday April 8, 2006 devoted to players Novice to Bantam age and Sunday April 9, 2006 reserved for Peanut to Novice age players. Further information is available and registration is by mail, using the form provided.
2006 Junior B Expansion News
Cornwall & Hamilton have been granted franchises in the Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League and will begin play in 2006. Cornwall will play in the League's eastern conference and Hamilton will play in the western conference. This will bring the total number of teams playing Junior B lacrosse in Ontario to 26. The Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League is the largest league in Canada
