The Knights took on their cross-town rivals once again today and finished up the home and home series with another win. Nepean started out the scoring on the night with a power-play goal by Jordan Joncas. The team looked tentative at times in the early going and struggled to compete for loose balls. Even with this hesitation, Lewandowsky, Bush and Chris Ford all tallied single goals in the first period. The Knights continued to hang on in the low scoring second period but strong goaltending by Andrew Marquis allowed the Knights to work through this mental block. A strong six goal finish, led by Jordan Weedmark allowed Nepean to finish the evening ahead on the score sheet.
Scoring for Nepean was:
Jordan Weekmark: 3 G, 3 A
Brett Lewandowsky: 3 G, 3 A
Nevan Sullivan: 2 G, 2 A
Andrew Marquis: 3 A
Kyle Drisdelle: 1 G, 3 A
Jordan Joncas: 1 G. 2 A
Chris Ford: 1 G, 1 A
Devon Tough: 1 G
The Knights next game is Saturday May 3rd at 8 pm at Merivale Arena vs. Akwesasne.
The Knights travelled across town to play the Gloucester Griffins tonight and came away with a win. The team started out strong, scoring first and having a very good first period. With 8 goals in the first period by Nepean, the Knights were ahead 8-2 after 20 minutes. A goaltending change for Gloucester brought out a renewed Griffins team that made for an interesting period. Lots of solid back and forth action provided the crowd with a solid 20 minutes of entertainment. The Knights managed to keep their lead and headed into the third period leading 11-4. A poor third period by the Knights almost allowed the Griffins back into the game. Slow play, a rash of penalties and some questionable defensive mistakes all contributed to a period that Nepean will look back on as a learning opportunity, and something not to celebrate. The highlight of the period was the great goaltending of Andrew Marquis, who also garnered two assists on the evening. Scoring for Nepean was:Chris Ford: 2 G, 6 A
Craig Cowie: 1 G, 4 A
Nevan Sullivan: 3 G, 1 A
Brett Lewandowsky: 3 G, 1 A
Jordan Weekmark: 2 G, 1 A
Noam Goldstein: 1 G
Curtis Singleton: 1 G
Jorden Fischer: 1 G
The Knights home opener is this Sunday at 7 pm at Merivale Arena.
